Help with Daily Norsk.

Daily Norsk keeps its lessons and progress on your device. Most issues can be resolved by opening the app, confirming the relevant permission or widget setting, and trying the action again.

Learning and review

  • Open Learn and choose Mixed, Words, or Phrases.
  • Select Tap to reveal to see the English meaning, grammar, examples, and available practice activities.
  • Use Library to search by Norwegian, English, inflection, or tag.
  • Items marked Review again appear in Review when they become due.
  • Progress is stored locally and can be erased from the Progress screen.

Add or refresh the widget

  1. Open Daily Norsk once after installing or updating it.
  2. Long-press an empty area of the Home Screen and choose the option to add a widget.
  3. Search for Daily Norsk, select a small, medium, or large widget, and add it to the Home Screen.
  4. Tap the widget to open its current lesson, or use the arrow control to show another item.

If the widget is blank or stale, open Daily Norsk and return to the Home Screen. If it still does not refresh, remove the widget, restart the device, and add the widget again. iOS controls widget refresh timing, so a background update may not appear immediately.

Audio and speech practice

Hear word, Hear phrase, and example-audio controls use Apple's Norwegian text-to-speech voice. They do not require microphone permission. Check the device volume and try again after other audio has stopped if playback is not audible.

Check recognition is optional and requires both Microphone and Speech Recognition access. If access was denied, enable Daily Norsk in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security → Microphone and Privacy & Security → Speech Recognition, then reopen the app. Speech recognition requires a physical iPhone or iPad and is not available in the iOS Simulator.

Daily Norsk does not save recordings or recognition transcripts. Speech practice is not a pronunciation score, and all other learning features remain available without these permissions.

Offline use and local data

The bundled dictionary, translations, examples, and phrases work offline. Learning progress, review scheduling, widget state, and speech-attempt counts remain on the device. Deleting the app removes its local app data subject to normal Apple device and backup behavior.

Contact support

If the problem continues, use the site contact form and include “Daily Norsk,” your device model, iOS or iPadOS version, app version, and the steps that produced the issue. A screenshot is helpful when appropriate. Do not send passwords, recordings, or other sensitive information.
