Privacy policy ยท Effective July 17, 2026
Your reading data stays with you.
Reading Goals is designed to provide useful reading widgets without creating an account, tracking you, or sending your reading history to the developer.
Information the app uses
You may enter a Goodreads user ID, a StoryGraph username, and a reading-goal value. The app requests the corresponding public profile pages to obtain only aggregate reading statistics: books read, reading-challenge progress, pages read, and an all-time book total for the current year and up to four prior years when available.
You must confirm that you control each profile or have permission to access it before the app performs a lookup. Reading Goals does not discover, crawl, or monitor other profiles.
Storage, collection, and sharing
- Profile settings and reading summaries are stored locally in the app's shared on-device container so the widgets can display them.
- The developer does not receive, collect, sell, or share your profile identifiers, reading history, or app usage.
- The app has no developer-operated account system, analytics service, advertising SDK, or remote backend.
- Manual refresh is the primary behavior. Optional daily refresh is off by default and can be disabled at any time.
Goodreads and StoryGraph
Refresh requests are sent directly from your device to Goodreads or StoryGraph over HTTPS. Like any web request, those services may receive technical information such as your IP address and user agent and process it under their own policies. Reading Goals does not send those services additional personal information, retain website credentials, or imply an affiliation with either service.
If StoryGraph presents a browser verification step during a manual refresh, it appears in a temporary on-device browser session. Reading Goals does not ask for StoryGraph credentials, and that session's cookies are not retained after the refresh.
Retention and your choices
Saved settings and summaries remain on your device until you replace or clear a profile, disable the related behavior, or delete the app. You can revoke profile access by clearing its identifier and saving, stop future background requests by turning off daily refresh, and remove the app's stored data by deleting the app.
Policy changes and contact
This policy may be updated if the app's behavior changes. The effective date above will be revised when an update is published. Questions or privacy requests can be sent through Reading Goals Support.
